2019 season

The Can  Am Lacrosse League would like to thank our teams, players, coaches, volunteers and fans for another great season.  We look forward to seeing everyone for the 2020 season.

The Akwesasne Bucks showed that they are a team to be reckoned with from the very beginning to the end of the tournament.  The Bucks finished the round robin portion of the tournament with an outstanding record of 5-1-1.  The only loss in the round robin was to 3 time defending champs St. Albert Miners on the 1st day.  The Bucks then won the next 3 games(Snake Island, Ladner and Capital Region) before tying the host Kahnawake Mohawks. The Bucks finished off the round robin by defeating Team Nova Scotia and Six Nations.  In the Champioship game they lost 9-5 to the Six Nations Rivermen and bringing home the silver medal.

Seth Oakes tied for the championship scoring title with(18g 21a) 39 points.  Miles Thompson(18g 14a) 32 points.  Sam Verville finished the tournament with a 4-1-1 record and a goals against of 7.73.

As a member of the Executive Board for Can Am Lacrosse League,  I would like to thank the Bucks for representing the league at the Presidents Cup.  For showing the rest of the CLA that we are a strong lacrosse league with many great teams and players.  Be proud of what was accomplished this year and get ready for next season.

Unlike the previous game it was the Rivermen who started out strong taking a 6-2 lead after the 1st period.  The Rivermen continued their strong play in the 2nd period scoring 2 goals to start the period.  The Bucks were able to score before the period ended to bring the score to 8-3.  The Bucks scored 2 goals in the first 8 minutes to make the score 8-5 but the Rivermen tightened up on defense and held the Bucks scoreless the rest of the way. Final score 9-5 Rivermen.

The Bucks were led by Seth Oakes(1g 3a).  Sam Verville had another strong game.

The Bucks are in a must win situation if they are going to play for the gold medal tomorrow against the same undefeated Six Nations team.  The Rivermen have already secured their spot in the championship game.

The Bucks started out strong taking a 4-1 lead after the 1st period and never looked back.  The Bucks scored the 1st 3 and the last 3 goals of the 2nd period to lead 11-5 going into the 3rd period.  In the 3rd period as well as the whole game the Bucks defense was very strong limiting the Rivermen to only 28 shots for the game. the final score 14-6 Bucks.  With the win the same 2 teams will play for the Presidents Cup Championship on Sunday afternoon at 4pm.

The Bucks offense was led by Seth Oakes(3g 3 a) , Josh Becker(2g 3a) and Russ Oakes(1g 4a).

After a tough 1st period that ended tied at 3,  the Bucks exploded for 10 goals in the 2nd period to take control of the game.  The 3rd period was a continued to go the Bucks way as the final score was 17-5.

The Bucks were led by Miles Thompson with 4 goals and 3 assists.  Sam Verville with another strong performance.

The Bucks started out strong and then the Mohawks buckled down on defense. the Bucks led 5-2 after the 1st period. after the 2nd the scored 7-5 Bucks.  The 3rd period was nip and tuck as the Mohawks came back to tie the game at 8. The Mohawks had the last chance to win but a strong defense by the Bucks thwarted the chance as the game ended.  the Bucks record is 3-1-1 for 7points.

The Bucks were led by Jerome Thompson with 2 goals and 4 assists.  Sam Verville was strong in goal for the Bucks.
